Talk Tools - Straw #5
Four straws mastered. The upper intermediate challenge begins here. 🗣️💛
The TalkTools Straw 5 is the fifth step in the clinically developed eight-level OPT Straw Drinking Hierarchy, introduced when a client has progressed through Straws 1 to 4 and is ready for the next significant increase in oral motor demand. At this upper intermediate level, greater lip protrusion and rounding, stronger tongue retraction to fully replace compensatory suckle patterns, and more refined jaw grading and jaw stability are all required, building the multiple oral motor prerequisites that support both functional drinking skills and the foundations of clearer speech sound production.
