The Learning Resources Pendulonium STEM Challenge introduces children to one of the most fascinating forces in physics, the pendulum, and turns it into an irresistible, hands-on challenge that keeps young engineers experimenting long after the first successful shot.

The goal sounds simple. Use the adjustable kid-powered pendulum to send the ball flying toward the goal cup or target. What follows is a deeply engaging loop of adjusting angles, tweaking force, repositioning targets, and trying again, with every attempt building a richer understanding of momentum, trajectories, and cause and effect without a single textbook moment in sight.

Nine preset challenges in the full-colour booklet scale from beginner to more complex setups, and once those are mastered, children are invited to design their own, turning the set into an open-ended physics playground that never runs out of possibilities.
